I have recently learnt about the very versatile 1234 cake, that gets its name because of it's amounts of main ingredients. It is not only a fantastic basic vanilla cake, but you can add all sorts of favours to it to jazz it up. Today I think we will just talk about the vanilla version as its a good base to start, there is always room for fancy flavour blogs later on!
What you need...
- 1 Cup of Butter
- 2 Cups of Caster Sugar
- 3 Cups of Plain Flour
- 4 Eggs (get the 1234 now??)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla paste
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 4 x 75 ml liquid, you could do 300mls of milk, or 2 parts milk 2 parts liquor, your coconut milk, so on. Just so it adds up to 300 mls
- Pre heat you oven to 180 degrees
- Cream the butter sugar together
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat together well
- then add in all other ingredients, and beat well until light and smooth.
- Bake
Happy Baking
