They are all the rage at the moment, home made fruit leathers or Roll ups, I love a good fad so couldn't resist giving them a go. Most of the recipes I looked at called for honey to be used but this household is a honey free house (due to intolerance) so I chose to use Maple Syrup instead, and they turned out really well. So far I have made strawberry leathers and Apple leathers, but I am very much look forward to trying out a few more flavours like Pear, Raspberry, Peach and Mango.
Strawberry Leathers
- 2 cups of halved strawberries
 - 1 1/2 tablespoons Maple Syrup

How you do it…
- Turn your oven to 50 degrees C
 - In a food processor or blender add the strawberries and maple syrup, and whizz into a puree
 - Line a slice tin with glad wrap, I used a 24cm X 34cm tin
 - Pour the puree into the tin and spread out thinly with a spatula
 - Place in the oven and leave for 4-5 hours. The length of time will depend on how thick your layer of puree is.
 - Once it has dehydrated and it has turned leathery, take out of the oven and let cool
 - Pull off the glad wrap and place on some baking paper, use clean kitchen scissors to cut into strips and roll up
 - Store in an air tight container for up to a week

Apple Leather
What you need…
- 2 cups of roughly diced apple (about 4)
 - 1 1/2 tablespoons of Maple Syrup
 - 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
 - Pinch of cinnamon
 - 1/2 a cup of water

How you do it…
- Heat the oven to 50 C
 - Put all ingrediance into a saucepan over a low heat
 - Let stew until the apple is nice an soft
 - Pour into a food processor/blender and whizz into a puree
 - Line a small tin with glad wrap
 - Pour the puree into a small slice tin and spread out thinly with a spatula, I used a 18cm X 28cm tin.
 - Place in the oven for 4-5 hours
 - Once dehydrated leathery take out of the oven and let it cool
 - Pull the glad wrap off and place onto some baking paper, cut into strips and roll up
 - Store in an air tight container for up to a week

* I used a smaller tin with the apple mixture as it was a thicker mixture and therefore wouldn't spread as well as the runny strawberry mixture.
